Canberra - the meeting place

We started Canberra beaten by the weather, heading into town as wet, downtrodden wreaks waiting for a glimpse or ray of sunshine. Luckily, the weather changed and all was right with the world again.

We stayed at a camp ground north of the city, Exhibition Park which doubles as a horse racing grounds. We had the luxury of several days on a powered site with hot showers, washing machines and a feeling of beeing close to civilisation. A week on the road and the aroma of travel had become more apparent with each passing day.

We found a great spot, which only after we set up, learnt was another family's site! Note to unaniciated - if you see a power cable tethered to a power outlet ... it's campers code for find another site! They were kind enough to let us stay, and we ended up sharing experiences, the large site, power & water, and drinks :)

We visited the Australian War Memorial, which was a eye opening experience. We did a great tour of Parliment House and lost a boogie-board.

Visits also to the National Portrait Gallery & National gallery and Cockington Green for miniture houses. One highlight was Canberra's Saturday market with great quality fresh produce. We had fresh mushroom, fried with butter and parsley on toasted pan decsa bread this morning - a delicous start to the day.

Just what was going on there? I can just see it.. Vin surfing down the great hallways chased by Tony & Julia arguing over whose turn's next.. the mind boggles!
Great to see everything's going so well - David S.

  2. The boogie board was meant to be tied under the roof rack... but someone who wishes to remain anonymous forgot to tie it down! - Vin
