This was the beginning of a stretch of road that would take us in the end to the centre of Australia. By packing up early we were able to drive south to Litchfield National Park and camp there in a nice spot by 11am. The park had a bitumen road running through it making it very easy – maybe too easy to see most of its major sites.
Litchfield National Park had an impressive set of gorges, water-holes and rock formations. However, for us it lacked the spiritual value that seemed to pervade Kakadu. Maybe, we've been drinking from the billabongs too long! We were lucky to attend a ranger talk in the evening with a picture show of the sites, flaura and fauna that topped off our brief, but fun stay here.
