Eyre Peninsula – Port Augusta

Today was very much a driving day. We packed early and drove through Port Augusta to see a magnificent view of the Flinders Rangers from its Arid Botanic Gardens. The gardens were a real surprise, were well laid out with displays of many of the plants that you see in a semi-arid climate, plants you could eat and garden designs you could build. It was our warmest day so far, hitting 27c so the sun-cream was out for the first time. At the small seaside town of Cowell, further down the east coast we bought a dozen shucked oysters for $12 at the kiosk next to the wharf. Then it was off to find free camping at Port Gibbon.

Flinders Ranges - next time!
