Port Arthur

Port Arthur turned out to offer a treasure trove of sights, history and activities. We camped 2km from Port Arthur at a large campground with hot showers and a beach nearby.

We spent two fun-filled days exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site, listening to stories of convicts while wandering through the grounds. To finish our stay, we went on the very, very scary ghost tour which would make even the most hardened keep looking across their shoulder.

We drove around the Tasman peninsular,  viewing Remarkable Cave and coal-mining ruins near Limestome Bay. Port Arthur certainly was one of the highlights of the trip so far.
