As it turned out that our intended route through the Grampians to Halls Gap had been blocked due to flooding, we changed directions and decided to go to Mount Gambier. Intending to camp in a couple of free spots, we found the sites either blocked or poor so we splurged at a nice Camp 4 campsite. The camp kitchen was terrific and we cooked up a feast with starter, mains and desert in the camp kitchen. Yes, the desert was burnt – but you can't get it all right!

In the morning we went to have a look at the Blue Lake, which due to cloudy conditions wasn't really much to write home about. More interesting was the Umpherston Sinkhole on the end of town, with its gardens at the bottom of the hole.
