Mole Creek

Our next stop was at Mole Creek Camping Ground where we had a nice spot next to a creek. Here, we made a fire, made new friends Jeff and Rose, who helped us create a roaring fire and shared their company. Seeing that we were next to the creek, after putting our leftover stew on the fire, I went off for a little fish to catch some trout. Twenty minutes later, I came back to a burnt dinner which – lets put it this way... didn't impress the missus. The kids had to eat, and seeing we had a great fire going, we decided to create damper. Jordan did an amazing job, kneading the ingredients together to create a dough of smooth consistency. I wrapped up some rolls in foil and placed them in the Dutch Oven surrounded by coals. Jordan, no longer trusting my timing skills, made me check whether the damper was burning every 5 minutes – but who could blame him really? Well, eventually the damper was ready and devoured with relish, hot with jam and honey.
