Great Ocean Road

We headed west along the Great Ocean Road with the cold and windswept vistas , inclement weather haunting us. We drove through pretty coastal towns at a pace, stopping at Lorne and Apollo Bay for chips, much less interesting in the rain.

Great playground in Lorne - chips not bad either!

We camped in the Great Otway National Park, where I had to reverse the trailer 100m when we hit an unexpected dead end. We lit a fire to lift our dampening spirits and waited for the next day to begin.

The next day, we quickly packed up with the drizzle for company and drove off to see the Twelve Apostles. Luck was with us, and we managed to see them, with torrential rain hitting us as we got back to the car. The Twelve Apostles continues to be an inspiring site, with sheer cliffs and violent seas crashing down on them.

We came, we saw, we conquered
What a difference a glimpse of sun makes!

Continuing the drive west along the Great Ocean Road, which was more like the Great Ocean Roadwork, due to the amount of stoppages along the way. The windy roads and stunning views still managed to impress despite the continuing rain.

Another roadwork!
